Due to the formation of FEST (faculty of engineering technology) after FSc (faculty of science) and FET (faculty of engineering technology) were merged by MNU, ESTA (Engineering, Science and Technology Association) has been formed as the Maldives National University Students’ Union’s wing for the faculty.

The merger of the wings had been confirmed along with the confirmation of the merger of the two faculties and the merger had been effective since the 16^th of February 2018 at the 2018 MNUSU Wings Inauguration ceremony after the new executive committee of the wing had been elected by default.

The positions of the new wing were filled by former MNUSU treasurer and vice president (academic) of ETA Hussain Mohamed as President, Mohamed Sadhadh Khaleel as the vice president (academic), the former vice president (activities) of ETA and SET for 3 times Qismath Qasim as the vice president (activities), Mariyam Thuhufa as the treasurer, Ibrahim Ghanim Shahid as the media coordinator and Aminath Shazra as the secretary.

The name ESTA with the acronym “Engineering Science and Technology Association” was selected by the ESTA executive committee after a lengthy discussion and with the majority of votes from the executive committee members. The name was then sent to the student’s union for approval and was approved by the student’s union last Wednesday. Hence, with the approval of the name, work has been going underway to design a logo for ESTA.
