The opening ceremony of the MNUSU Inter Faculty Volleyball Tournament 2019 organized by the Maldives National University Students Union (MNUSU) has taken place on 22^nd April 2019. The ceremony was held in the FE PE Hall. Chief Guest of the ceremony was the president of the volleyball association of Maldives Mr. Mohamed Latheef. The Vice Chancellor of the Maldives National University Dr. Ali Fawaz shareef and heads and Deans of the faculties/centers, and executive committee members of MNUSU took part in the ceremony.

The main purpose of this tournament is to build a bond between students from different faculties and to increase the interest in volleyball among the students of the university.

The tournament kicked off with 2 matches of the women’s division. The first match was between Faculty of Health Sciences (FHS) and Faculty of Law and Islamic Studies (FLIS). FHS won this match by 2 to 1 sets (25 – 22, 20 – 25, 15 – 13). The best player of this thrilling match was jersey number 1 of FHS, Fathimath Azleema. The second match of the night played between Center for Foundation Studies (CFS) and Faculty of Education (FE) was won by CFS with a difference of 2 – 1 sets. (25 – 17, 20 – 25, 13 – 15). Best player of this match was jersey number 4 of center for foundation studies Haleemat Unoosha.

This is the 4^th volleyball tournament by the MNUSU. This year’s tournament is being carried out with the most number of teams, men’s division 8 teams and a total of 9 teams from the women’s division.
