“Dhiraagu MNUSU Futsal Fiesta 2018” organized by MNUSU started this Thursday night (2nd August 2018), 08:00 pm at the grounds of Ekuveni Sports Complex.
With a total of 30 teams participating this cup has a women’s and men’s division. 17 of the 30 teams are from the men’s division and the remaining 13 are from the women’s division. The cup is set to progress basing on the point system with four group stages in each division.
This event was honored by Parliament Member of Maafannu South Constituency Abdulla Rifau, MNU Council Member Ali Rasheed and Ambassador of MI College Hussain Jihad.
In the kickoff match Villa college went up against Cyryx College in the women’s division and emerged victorious with a score of 5 – 1 . “Queen of the match ” was awarded to Villa College’s Firushana Naseer (No. 11).

During a competitive match
In the second match from the women’s division. In this match the MAPS College team faced the Centre for Foundation Studies (CFS) team which resulted in a 4-1 win for Maps College. Due to an amazing performance by MAPS College player no. 13 Azina Abdul Matheen, she was awarded “Queen of the Match.”
Rest of the 6 matches were played between the teams from men’s division. Cyryx College and MNU Business School (MNUBS) played their match at 08:50pm with the outcome being a score of 0 – 5 in favor of the MNUBS team. “Man of the Match” was awarded to MNUBS player no. 7 Mohamed Rilwan who scored 3 goals for his team.
The fourth match featured Faculty of Hospitality and Tourism Studies (FHTS) and MAPS College. The FHTS team emerged victorious with 6 – 2 win over MAPS college. “Man of the Match” was awarded to FHTS player no. 7 Abdul Wahidh Ibrahim who scored 3 goals for his team.
The fifth match was between Faculty of Engineering, Science and Technology (FEST) and Islamic University of Maldives (IUM) at 09:50 pm. The matched ended with a score of 3 – 4 and IUM being the winner. “Man of the Match” was awarded to player no. 7 Ahushan Naeem of IUM for his incredible display that night.
The sixth match was played at this time with MAPS International High and Faculty of Health Science (FHS) going against each other. The match came to an end with a score of 4 – 0 and FHS being the winner. “Man of the Match” was awarded to FHS player no. 8 Ibrahim Hamid for his outstanding performance.
The seventh match started at 10:50 pm where Maldives Business School (MBS) and Polytechnic played against each other with the end result being a score of 4 – 2 and MBS gaining an incredible start. “Man of the Match” was awarded to the talented Abdulla Wisham, player no. 11 from MBS.
The final match of the night was between Villa College and Faculty of Education (FE). After an incredible display of skills and teamwork the final match of the night ended the Villa College team emerging as the victors with a score of 4-2. “Man of the Match” was awarded to Ansar Ibrahim, player no. 7 of Villa College for his impressive skills.
Looking on to the upcoming matches on Friday morning (3rd August 2018), the futsal grounds will be occupied by women’s division, first with MNUBS playing against MI College while Clique College will play against Avid College at 6:45 am. At 7:30 am, teams from men’s division including Faculty of Law and Islamic Studies (FLIS) and Avid College will be competing while Clique College will be playing against MI College.
MNUSU Futsal Fiesta is a tournament organized by Maldives National University Students’ Union (MNUSU). This tournament is the biggest futsal tournament being held for the “higher education” sector of Maldives. This is the 6th edition of this tournament, which was held for the past 5 years. This year’s edition will start on 02nd August 2018 and will end on 18th. All matches of the tournament will be played at the grounds at Ekuveni Sports Complex, in front of Traffic Police, Ameenee Magu, Male’.
The title of this year’s edition of the tournament, which has been held every year after the founding of MNUSU, is sponsored by Dhiraagu. The official media partner of the tournament is “Sun Media Group”, the official media partner of MNUSU.
